Music

The music ministry at Highland Park United Methodist Church has something for everyone.

Adults and youth are welcome to sing in the Wesley Choir, which helps lead worship from September through May.  You don't have to be a professional musician or even be able to read music to join in.  We want to make a joyful noise to and for the Lord.  The choir sings a variety of music and is very enthusiastic.  Try us out.  We would like to have you sing with us!  Cheryl Lindstrom who has extensive experience with leading church choirs is our fun and fabulous choir director.

Adults and youth are also invited to get involved with our bell choir.  This choir usually plays once a month in our 10:30 Sunday morning worship service from September through May.  Practices are on Thursday nights in the parlor at 6:30.  Reading music is a requirement for this choir.  It's a fun group that does a great job playing a wide variety of music.  Jeannette Filippi has been our bell choir director for over 30 years, but her experience doesn't mean she is stuck in place.  The choir plays some new music every year and is always a favorite of the congregation.

Our Sunday school children begin each Sunday session with a joint time of music.  They share their songs with the congregation at least once a month in our 10:30 worship service.  All kids are invited to participate and they have a great time!   Cheryl Lindstrom leads this group, bringing not only her musical expertise, but also her rich experience with children's Christian education into play.

Throughout the year we welcome people of all ages to share their musical gifts with us at any of our worship experiences.  Instrumentalists, soloists, and groups are all welcome to add to the joy of any service.  Contact Pastor Lynn or Cheryl Lindstrom at 785-266-6555 if you would like more information or to offer your talents to God in one of our services.
