Message: Finding Your Breath: Listening to our Bodies

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. - Romans 8: 26-30; 38-39

Our sacred texts connect the breath of God with our own aliveness–God blew breath into us at creation and we continue to breathe all of creation in and out of our bodies constantly. The early church also believed that breath and Spirit were one in the same. How might the meditative practice of paying attention to our breath be, in and of itself, a prayer of connection to God? When we embrace our bodies as the holy vessel of God, we become even more our True Selves–which has been there all along.

Beginning Anew Worship Service

We are an all inclusive, very casual, interactive, different kind of worship experience every Saturday night at HPUMC Dawson Hall.

We begin each evening with a community pot luck dinner at 5:30 pm and then at 6 pm we start the PowerPoint presentation with an opening prayer, followed by an opening video. We share scripture, sing songs and the message is given by either Pastor Lynn Lamberty or one of the retired Pastors who are members of Highland Park United Methodist Church.

We want everyone to feel welcome and included, so if you are looking for a church home, or looking for something less than traditional in your worship, please come check us out. We might just be what you are looking for!
